I was searching Google Images last night for Indian flower garlands and found this photo. I'm not sure who to attribute it to but it is a fine photo. The dogs have vermillion on their heads as well as the marigold garlands. It's part of the Diwali festival to honor the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi.
I wanted to make Slip a beautiful garland for his appointment tomorrow. I don't have marigolds, chrysanthemums will have to do. I've also chosen a very pretty bindi for him. He should stand out when he goes to the other side. Espie and Lucky will spot him immediately, I'm sure.
Despite the state of his body, Slip was always a beautiful, beautiful little friend in my eyes. Welcoming and faithful. He is sleeping by my side now as I write this post. Fourteen years ago he came to us, him and Minka, the only other pup in the litter. Minka passed away a few weeks ago and now Slip will follow her.
My boy, my boy. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything.
